Synchronization of Multi-User Event Media (SEM) at MediaEval 2014: Task Description, Datasets, and Evaluation

چکیده
In this paper we provide an overview of the Synchronization of Multi-User Event Media (SEM) Task that is part of the 2014 MediaEval Benchmark for Multimedia Evaluation. The SEM task is presented this year for the first time in MediaEval, and poses a new challenge, namely the temporal alignment of a series of photo galleries that relate to the same event but have been collected by different users. Besides aligning the pictures on a common timeline, participants are also required to detect the sub-events attended by the users and to group the pictures accordingly. The task is validated on two different datasets related to the 2010 and 2012 Winter / Summer Olympic games, each dataset comprising a variable number of pictures, galleries, and subevents.

Synchronization of Multi-User Event Media at MediaEval 2015: Task Description, Datasets, and Evaluation
The objective of this paper is to provide an overview of the Synchronization of Multi-User Event Media (SEM) Task, which is part of the MediaEval Benchmark for Multimedia Evaluation. The SEM task was initially presented at MediaEval in 2014, with the goal of proposing a challenge in aligning multiple users’ photo galleries related to the same event but with unreliable timestamps. Besides aligni...
متن کاملSynchronizing Multi-User Photo Galleries with MRF
We present a novel solution to the MediaEval 2014 Event Synchronization Task: Synchronization of Multi-User Event Media (SEM). The framework is based on a probabilistic graphical model. Thanks to the simple topology of the graph, the estimation of the true temporal displacement among multiple photo collections can be performed efficiently through exact inference. The underlying fitness function...
متن کاملCERTH at MediaEval 2015 Synchronization of Multi-User Event Media Task
This paper describes the results of our participation to the Synchronization of Multi-User Event Media Task at the MediaEval 2015 challenge. Using multiple similarity measures, we identify pairs of similar media from different galleries. We use a graph-based approach to temporally synchronize user galleries; subsequently we use time information, geolocation information and visual concept detect...
متن کاملMultimodal Synchronization of Image Galleries
This paper describes our contribution to the MediaEval 2014 task on the Synchronization of multi-user Event Media (SEM). We propose two multimodal approaches that employ both visual and time information for the synchronization of different images galleries and for the detections of sub-events. The methods prove robustness in the determination of time offsets with accuracy of up to 87%.
متن کاملCERTH at MediaEval 2014 Synchronization of Multi-User Event Media Task
This paper describes the results of the CERTH participation in the Synchronization of Multi-User Event Media Task of MediaEval 2014. We used a near duplicate image detector to identify very similar photos, which allowed us to temporally align photo galleries; and then we used time, geolocation and visual information, including the results of visual concept detection, to cluster all photos into ...
